Following the success of her first two solo shows this touring exhibition promotes street photography as an all at-once urban research tool, a form of cultural communication, and a form of pure visual art.
Domenici captures unguarded urban moments and curious instances documented in two of the most iconic cities in the world – London and New York. The uniqueness of our complicated, simple life is observed with all its beauty, oddness, in moments never to be repeated. The way we cross a street, sip a latte or act when we think nobody is looking – scenes we all see, but rarely stop and observe. At its core, On the street… captures how we all live with our unique moments.
Domenici has chosen black and white photography as her medium, quoting Ted Grant, “When you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes. When you photograph in black and white, you photograph their soul.” In Domenici's own words, "Street photography is like jazz, it’s the unexpected and improvisation that makes the real magic, but there are common themes, themes we can all recognize, connect with, on the streets where we (all) live."
