It's the colours. The colours are turned up past anything you're used to, like someone pushed the saturation slider to 100 and forgot to put it back. Everywhere. All the time. A Non-stop visual assault. That's India.
Exactly why this is stripped back to black and white. Too much colour, and you get distracted by the spectacle.
Once you take the chaos away: it's two girls, walking home from school, wheeling a bike between them, mid-conversation about something that has nothing to do with any of it, not the rickshaws, not the wires, not the tourist with the camera.
Just another school day.
